Seven Oaks Facility |
|

|
|
Seven Oaks is situated on
over 45 acres of
rolling pasture. Each pasture is fenced and cross-fenced with
horse-safe Centaur fencing and has its own water source and trough with
automatic waters. |
|
The Centaur fencing
has proven itself both in rigorous company testing and here at our
facility to be as horse-safe as fence can be. It is made of
high tensile polymer material that is safer for animals because of
its ability to withstand impact without breaking or
stretching. All our pastures and paddocks are fenced with
Centaur, including our newborns and rambunctious weanlings.
|
 |
 |
The main pastures all have wind and rain
breaks in the form of trees. The wooded areas are regularly cleared
of saplings and underbrush to prevent scratches on equine legs.
Horses are turned out according to gender
and personality. We never mix mares and geldings, and we try to find
appropriate herd groups for each new animal.
|
 |
The barn itself has 16 stalls. Each stall has
its
own light, electrical outlet and water source. The stalls have
rubber mats and are bedded in shavings. There is an indoor hot and
cold water wash rack that also has rubber mats on the floor. The
cement aisle is 16 feet wide, large enough to safely allow horses to pass
each other or pass tied horses. The tack room, feed room and
bathroom are all available for use by barn patrons and are air-conditioned.
Boarders may keep tack in the tack room and trunks in front of their
horse's stall; the tack room is locked at night when the last person
leaves. For added security, an electronic key-code gate sits at the
end of the driveway.

 |
The arena is 110 feet by 220 feet and is
sand-based. The arena is also fenced in with four strands of four
inch Centaur fence. The arena has four stadium lights for night
riding. The 60 foot round pen - also sand-based - has one stadium
light. |
|
Our jumps are sturdy wood or similar materials and are
excellent to school over. There are numerous poles for use as
training aides for young horses and riders. These are for all Seven
Oaks patrons to enjoy and use; we just ask that they are used
gently. The upkeep of the jumps (fresh paint, etc) is provided in
part by the
Montgomery County 4-H, based out of Seven Oaks. |
 |
 |
The trails around the barn are both on a wide path and
off-path trails through woods. These trails are great for ring sour horses
and the beginning rider, as well as conditioning and bomb-proofing.
